At the Operational Center (OC) of the police, a report of a threat with a firearm came in on Wednesday afternoon just before 6:00 PM. Officers took the report very seriously and immediately initiated an investigation. The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a car after the threat. Police officers from the National Expertise and Operations unit (LX) spotted the car driving on the A16 towards Rotterdam and pulled it over near Ridderkerk. Using a special procedure, the Approach Technique for Dangerous Persons, they removed the occupants from the car and arrested them. This procedure is used by the police in the Netherlands when dealing with individuals who may pose a firearm threat.

Investigation into Involvement Ongoing
In the car were a 38-year-old man from Krimpen aan den IJssel and three young men from Rotterdam aged 15, 16, and 17. The 16-year-old was the boy they were looking for. He was still in possession of the firearm at the time of the arrest. All four suspects were taken to the police station to investigate their involvement in the incident. That investigation is still ongoing.
