At around 04:00 AM, the police received a report from a witness that two men were attempting to break into a jeweler at Raadhuisplein in Oostburg at night. When the police arrived at the location, there were no persons or cars present. At the same time, colleagues saw a car without lights in the vicinity of Oostburg. The car drove away quickly, so the colleagues began the chase. At the Draaiburg roundabout, a passenger got out of the car and ran away. The colleagues provided the description and continued to follow the car. After receiving the description, the police searched the area. An 18-year-old man was found on Maagdenweg. He was arrested as a suspect for attempted burglary.
Meanwhile, the police pursued the car towards Sluis, after which the car crashed into a tree at Beestenmarkt. The driver fled but was later arrested. He is a 19-year-old man from Rotterdam. The car has been seized.
