The police began an investigation in mid-September into possible unwanted behavior at the Blue Harbor. Because incoming signals related to multiple units, Chief of Police Janny Knol instructed the National Internal Investigations Team (LTIO) to conduct the investigation.

The investigation led to a criminal investigation by the Public Prosecution Service (OM) and an (internal) disciplinary investigation against the PDC employee. The employee was not prosecuted criminally, as the OM believed that disciplinary action was preferred over criminal prosecution. The outcomes of the criminal investigation were therefore included in the disciplinary investigation against the employee involved.

Now that the investigation is complete, Chief of Police Janny Knol concludes that given the behavior, the circumstances, and his attitude, dismissal for the employee involved is the only appropriate measure.

The investigation into possible misconduct at the Blue Harbor also led to a suspicion of misconduct by a second police officer. This investigation is not yet complete.
