A 46-year-old woman from Vlissingen was arrested after being involved in a traffic accident around 8:00 PM at Hellingbaan in Vlissingen. Officers had noticed the same car exhibiting unusual driving behavior shortly before. They decided to follow the vehicle to give a stop signal. Before they could do so, the car collided with a van. The woman drove on after the collision and came to a stop about 30 meters further against a stone.
The officers spoke to the woman and called an ambulance. The ambulance staff examined her, but she did not need to go to the hospital. The officers tested her for driving under the influence. The preliminary test showed that the woman had likely consumed too much alcohol.
Passerby with noticeable bulge
While the officers were talking to her, a man cycled past, stopped, and spoke to her. From what he said, the officers suspected something more was going on. When they approached him, they noticed a noticeable bulge under his shirt.
Given the recent unrest in Vlissingen, the officers decided to frisk the 48-year-old man from Dordrecht. During the frisk, they found dozens of grams of hard and soft drugs, illegal cigarettes, and a knife. The drugs are still being examined to determine the exact quantity and types involved. The man was arrested and taken to the police station.
Car search
Afterwards, the officers searched the woman’s vehicle. They found an amount of hard drugs larger than a personal use quantity. The drugs were seized and are being further investigated. The officers arrested the woman and took her to the police station. A breath analysis showed she had 700 µg/l of alcohol in her breath. Her driver’s license was confiscated. The police have launched an investigation into the traffic accident in which she was involved.
