‘Collision with a person’ in the P.C. Hooftstraat, this report comes in on Saturday evening, April 19, to the police. The victim turns out to have been run over by a car after a dispute. Miraculously, this person only sustains minor injuries. Shortly after, the police can arrest the suspect, a 32-year-old man from Beuningen. He is detained on suspicion of attempted manslaughter.
A few hours later, it is now Sunday, April 20, a 39-year-old man from Capelle aan den IJssel deliberately drives into someone at De Entree in Southeast. The car comes - presumably at high speed - driving up to the entrance of the parking lot at AFAS Live and hits the traffic controller who is working there. The victim sustains minor injuries as a result. When officers arrive on the scene, they arrest the suspect for attempted manslaughter. He is eventually sent away with a summons, and his drivers license is confiscated.
