Major public order disturbances were avoided. Nevertheless, many reports related to New Years Eve and fireworks were received. These included fireworks nuisance, large and small fires (e.g., fences, containers, and homes), and vandalism caused by or involving fireworks.

Violence Against Emergency Workers
In Roermond, Blerick, and Tienray, emergency workers were pelted with fireworks. In Venlo, an officer was injured and taken to the general practitioners post. This occurred during an incident at the Parade. Ultimately, three suspects were arrested for this incident: an 18-year-old man, a 24-year-old woman, and a 27-year-old man from Venlo.

Throwing fireworks at emergency workers or violence against them is unacceptable. We file charges of attempted manslaughter when fireworks are thrown at us and prioritize the investigation of suspects.

Busiest Night of the Year
New Years Eve is always the busiest night of the year for the police and other emergency services, including this year. Our priority is to ensure the New Years Eve passes safely for citizens, colleagues, and fellow emergency workers.
