The suspects created fake profiles on the sex website Kinky.nl to obtain the contact details of users. They then contacted these users to extort money from them. The victims were sometimes extorted in a brutal manner, with threats of violence and visits to their home addresses.
Based on the ongoing investigation, the National Investigation and Interventions Unit assumes that hundreds of victims have been created throughout the country. The men have likely earned tens of thousands of euros from their practices.
