On Thursday, multiple signals were received by the police that the atmosphere at and around the fair at the Unna square was changing. Police, enforcers, and fair operators were therefore extra alert.
When enforcers saw that a fair visitor had knives with him, they took the man aside and alerted the police. Officers then arrested the man on suspicion of violating the Weapons and Munitions Act and took him to the police station. The knives have been confiscated. The man spent the night in jail and will be interrogated on Friday morning. Moreover, he will be imposed with an area ban.
Police, municipality, and fair operators will remain extra alert in the coming days to ensure that the fair proceeds in a pleasant and amicable manner.
