After store employees detained them, the police were called. The boys did not take the situation seriously and laughed about their actions. However, it turned out to be an expensive prank: both received a store fine of 181 euros and a one-year store ban.

Officers then took the boys home, where the parents were informed about the possible consequences of reoffending. The parents were, to say the least, not pleased with their childrens behavior.

Sanctions for minors aged 12 to 18
When minors commit a minor offense, this can be dealt with by a reprimand (warning) or a referral to Halt for a so-called Halt sanction. This gives the minor a chance to learn from their mistakes and to repair the damage. This can only occur with minor offenses, and parents are always involved.
