On December 15, 2023, two suspects entered an opticians shop on Van Baerlestraat early in the evening. The robbers were armed with a firearm and a hammer and threatened the store employee. They took a significant haul – consisting of high-end eyeglass frames – valued at 27,000 euros. The suspects then fled on a scooter.
At the time, the police conducted an investigation, the case was featured on Opsporing Verzocht, and despite the tips received, no arrests were made and the case was closed. However, due to a recent tip received by the detectives, the case has been reopened.
