Investigation
Technical investigations are still ongoing. Research and analysis of traces as well as investigations to determine the cause of death are taking place. This is done using various methods such as an autopsy, post-mortem examination, and scanning of the body. The results of these need to be carefully examined and analyzed. This takes time, and at this moment it is still unclear what the cause of death is.

Additionally, a detective team is working to form a picture using the information available so far, including from witness investigations, witness statements, and possibly police systems. Answers are being sought to questions such as who is the victim, where did he stay, who did he contact, where was he last seen to clarify what may have happened. As long as those answers are not available, all scenarios remain open, and nothing is excluded.

Identity
The identity of the man is known. The investigation team is currently working to contact the next of kin and inform them about the death.

Witnesses
The area where the deceased was found is a well-known walking and recreation area, not only for locals but also for tourists. The police are looking for witnesses. There may be people who walked or cycled in or around the Groeneweg in Venlo on Tuesday evening, the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, Wednesday morning and/or afternoon, and noticed something unusual. They are requested to contact the police. This can be done via 0900-8844. Anonymously via 0800-7000 is also possible. A confidential conversation with the police is always possible. This can be indicated at the first contact.
