Both drivers were waiting in opposite directions at around 9:00 PM on Friday at the red traffic light at the intersection of Brugstraat with Molenstraat and Hoogstraat in Roosendaal. When the light turned green, they drove towards each other. The 19-year-old car driver intended to turn left while the 18-year-old moped rider went straight ahead. As a result, they collided. The moped rider landed on the cars windshield and was injured. Despite this, the driver did not intend to stop. He drove away with significant damage to the windshield. What he did not realize was that he had also lost his license plate during the collision. The police were able to arrest him within minutes nearby. The man was found not to have a driving license and was taken into custody.
