In recent months, flyers have been distributed offering drugs. Residents of various flats and apartment complexes in Utrecht received these flyers through their mailboxes. But also outside Utrecht, such as in De Bilt and Woerden, the flyers were reported. Drugs could be ordered quite easily via a phone number or QR code. Because the distribution of the flyers was random, children and vulnerable individuals also came into contact with the drug trade.
Reports
The police received various reports from local residents who are concerned about this open form of crime and about the low-threshold way in which drugs are offered. It is illegal to trade or transport drugs. Individuals who are guilty of this can expect the police to do everything possible to track them down.
Investigation
The police conducted an extensive investigation over several months. This month, three individuals were arrested. They are suspected of drug trafficking. During the investigation, drugs, cash amounts of several thousand euros, and vehicles were seized.
The police will forward the details of the suspects to the municipality of Utrecht. The municipality can also take measures against the sellers of drugs.
