Man Arrested on Highway with 45,000 Pills

Gebied: Dordrecht

A 30-year-old Afghan resident of Belgium was arrested on Saturday, March 8, on suspicion of drug smuggling. In his car, the National Unit of the police found two boxes containing ten bags of pills.

The drivers behavior drew attention because he was driving slowly on the highway near Dordrecht in a lease car with Belgian license plates. When officers pulled him over to check his identity and drivers license, the police smelled a strong odor of cannabis. In the trunk, the boxes with pills were found. A test revealed that they were MDMA. Investigations showed that the pills had been picked up in Zoetermeer and were heading towards Belgium.

The narcotics have since been destroyed, and the suspect was presented to the examining magistrate on Wednesday, March 12. He has been released but remains a suspect.
