At around 02:20 AM, officers saw a motorcycle driving while they were patrolling the area of Vrouwenpolder. When the motorcycle noticed them, the rider turned the vehicle and sped away. This is obviously suspicious behavior when you are the only road user in the middle of the night, so the officers decided to pursue the motorcyclist. They signaled him to stop, which he ignored.
Stuck in field
At the roundabout at the Oost-West road, the motorcyclist turned right and headed towards Noord-Beveland. He took the exit to Kamperland and drove along Ruiterplaatweg at about 110 kilometers per hour. When the officers got closer in their patrol vehicle, they noticed that part of the license plate was covered. At one point, the motorcyclist entered Baas Huisweg and got stuck in a kind of field. The officers were then able to stop him.
Refusal of saliva test
The driver, a 22-year-old man from Spijkenisse, had to undergo a breath test. This showed that he was not under the influence of alcohol. The man refused a saliva test. He was then arrested and searched. He had a small amount of soft and hard drugs with him. The narcotics were seized, and the motorcycle he had been riding was also confiscated for investigation.
Still in custody
The suspect has been transferred to a police detention center. There, he was allowed to give a statement on Friday. The man is currently still in custody. He is suspected of drug possession, driving under the influence, and dangerous traffic behavior. Moreover, the man also did not have a drivers license, and parts of the motorcycle were missing, which created protruding parts that could injure someone.
