Around 4:50 PM, the police received a report of a burglary. At the scene, a man matching the description walked out and was subsequently arrested.

During the detention of the first suspect, the second suspect exited the building. When officers tried to address him, he fled on foot.  After a short chase, he was also apprehended. During the frisking of the man, goods were found, including in his underwear, which may have come from the burglary.

Call 112 if you see a burglary in progress

Residents know best when something is wrong in their neighborhood. For example, a stranger peering into houses, or activities at a home when you know the residents are on vacation. Calling 112 can help the police prevent a burglary or catch a burglar in the act! The 112 number is intended for emergencies, not only life-threatening situations but also when you witness a crime or the preparation of a burglary or theft.

How to make it difficult for burglars

Burglars take advantage of opportunities. You can make it harder for them by:

  • Approved locks and fittings on windows, (garage) doors, and any skylights.
  • A special lock on burglary-prone sliding doors.
  • Adequate outdoor lighting.
  • Timer switches on all floors of your home. Let your indoor lighting turn on and off at different times.
