The boy was present on the schoolyard in Harmelen on the evening of April 11 when a group of youths approached him. The group chased him, caught up with him, and the victim was then kicked and punched. The boy sustained multiple bruises and cuts on his face. The chase and the public violence were filmed and the video was subsequently posted online.
The police were not aware of the incident but came across the video on the internet on the evening of April 16. This was the immediate start of an investigation that that same evening led to the location where the assault took place and the identity of the victim. The investigation continued at full speed on April 17 and resulted that morning in the arrest of a 15-year-old boy from Harmelen. 
With the arrest of the suspect, the investigation is not over. The police are still looking for the other individuals involved in the public violence. The police do not rule out further arrests.
