The COR expresses its great appreciation for the professionalism, commitment, and resilience shown by our colleagues and other emergency responders. Thanks to their efforts, operations could continue and, despite the serious incidents, safety and continuity were maintained as well as possible.
At the same time, reports of aggression, insecurity, and extra burden during New Years Eve make clear that ongoing attention is needed for good working conditions and sufficient support.
We have no words for the violence again used against our colleagues and emergency responders. The extent of the violence our colleagues faced shows that, despite many preparations, the number of deployed colleagues, and the optimization of equipment, all limits were exceeded and the human dimension was sorely lacking among these rioters. An extraordinarily severe observation.
We hope that the indignation we now see in various reports, in which authorities and politicians speak out about the New Years Eve battlefield, will later translate into actions and the provision of everything necessary to perform the work safely. We continue to commit ourselves to the well-being of our colleagues. Safe and healthy working remains a highly prioritized agenda item this year, about which the COR continues to engage with management and politics.
Despite the intense nature of this New Years Eve, we hope everyone who worked has had the opportunity to recover and has received good aftercare.
We wish everyone a safe and healthy new year.
