Following the discovery of the firearm, the police conducted a search of a home on Citroengaard in Spijkenisse later that evening. Here, the police found, among other things, a large quantity of highly explosive flash powder. The situation was so dangerous that a special police team was called in to safely dispose of the explosive substance.
As a precaution, three homes were evacuated. In the house, besides the explosive powder, items were found that indicate the preparation and execution of drug offenses and other criminal acts. The two men present in the house, aged 19 and 47 from Spijkenisse, were also arrested but have since been released. They remain suspects in the investigation.
The three men in the vehicle, two aged 20 and one aged 23 from Spijkenisse, were presented today to the examining magistrate. He has determined that they must remain in custody for an additional 14 days. They are accused of illegal possession of firearms, possession of explosives, and preparatory actions for drug smuggling and drug trafficking.
