Reporting Pays Off: Police and Municipality of Schagen Find Drug Location in Waarland
On Friday, October 24, the police and municipality of Schagen discovered a storage location for drugs and drug production materials in a building in Waarland. Various types of hard and soft drugs and large amounts of highly flammable chemicals were found. Following a report via Meld Misdaad Anoniem, an integrated inspection was carried out. The National Dismantling Facility safely removes everything and, together with the police, continues the investigation. No arrests have been made yet.
Risks
Dangerous substances are used in drug production. They can be harmful to humans and the environment and can cause explosions followed by fire. Additionally, a location where (raw materials for) drugs are stored or produced can lead to increased criminal activity in the neighborhood, making the area less safe.
Prevent danger, report suspicions
To combat drug-related crime and prevent dangerous situations in the area, the help of residents is indispensable. People who suspect a drug lab or drug storage location nearby are urged to report it. This can be done via Meld Misdaad Anoniem at 0800-7000 or online at meldmisdaadanoniem.nl. You can also call the police at 0900-8844. Residents who want to know how to recognize a drug lab can visit nhdrugsalert.nl or houdmisdaaduitjebuurt.nl.
