The four suspects are currently still in custody. The follow-up investigation into both cases is ongoing. The two vehicles the suspects were driving have also been seized for further investigation.

Fake Police Officers

An observant resident became suspicious when someone pretending to be a police officer rang the doorbell on Wednesday evening. The resident asked for identification, at which point the suspect quickly fled. The resident called 112 and officers immediately responded to the report. In the vicinity, a person matching the description was found. A second suspect was also arrested. This involves a 29-year-old man from Den Hoorn and a minor boy from Berkel en Rodenrijs.

Bank Helpdesk Fraud

On Monday, August 25, a resident of Hattem also reported that her bank cards were taken by so-called bank employees. Another observant reporter reported a suspicious situation at an ATM in Hattem at that moment. The vehicle they were in was shortly thereafter spotted near Amersfoort. There, the two suspects, a 34-year-old man from Weesp and a minor boy from Amsterdam, were arrested.

Dont let them in, no matter what they come up with

Distraction tricks are excuses used by criminals to try to deceive people. The fraudsters often appear trustworthy. They call, come to the door, or approach people on the street with a good story. They then steal money and other valuable possessions. A real police officer or bank employee will never call or come to the door to collect jewelry, money, or a bank card. The police advise always to call 112 if an (alleged) fraudster makes an appointment to come by or if an (alleged) fraudster is at the door.
