Colleagues from the basic team Amersfoort, the National Expertise and Operations unit, and Customs organized an extensive traffic control along the A28 near Soesterberg on Wednesday.
At the carpool area, seven control locations were set up where cars and small trucks were subjected to a so-called 100% check. Here, the technical condition of vehicles was examined, including tire quality and lighting, as well as loose cargo and the light permeability of tinted windows. Additionally, driving licenses and identification were checked, and breath tests were conducted.
During the control, tests showed that nine individuals were driving under the influence of drugs and one person under the influence of alcohol (575 ug/l). Additionally, three stabbing weapons and a knuckle duster were found. Moreover, one vehicle was seized, three ghost vehicles were discovered, and false license plates were identified.
Colleagues collected over 3000 euros in outstanding fines. A report was also made against several drivers who could not present a driving license or were driving with a revoked license. Furthermore, fines were issued for defective lighting, not wearing a seatbelt, an overloaded vehicle, speeding, or using a mobile phone while driving.
Week Against Undermining
The control took place during the week against undermining. Undermining crime refers to the mixing of the underworld and the upper world. Criminals exploit citizens, entrepreneurs, and service providers for their own gain. This undermines the rule of law and poses a threat to safety.
