Around 10:15 PM, the control room receives a report of a serious accident between a cyclist and a scooter rider on the bike path on Klaprozenweg. Witnesses see the scooter driver fleeing the scene after the accident. Bystanders provide assistance to the seriously injured victim when emergency services arrive. They take over care and transport the man to the hospital. Thanks to the help of alert bystanders who noted the license plate of the fleeing scooter, the police can arrest the driver later that evening.

The Traffic Investigation Team (OTV) and FO-traffic are investigating the circumstances of the accident. Leaving the scene of the accident
According to Article 7 of the Road Traffic Act, it is prohibited to leave the scene of the accident if you have caused damage or injury without leaving your details. If you are shaken or something similar and have driven off, you can still report to the police within 12 hours (Article 184 WVW). This exception does not apply if you leave someone behind who needs urgent medical assistance.
