Spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service: “If you are a minor and are caught for the first time for such a robbery, there is a chance that you will spend a few nights in the police station. Afterwards, the judge will determine what punishment you will receive. Usually, this is a community service. This means you have to work a large number of hours without being paid for it. If you are 18 years or older, you will be punished more severely and face a prison sentence of about a year. Convictions are not good for your future. If you have a criminal record, you can no longer work everywhere.”
Besides the punishment, be aware of the impact that a street robbery has on the victim. By committing a street robbery, you contribute to the insecurity on the streets. You certainly dont want it to happen to your own sister or brother, do you?
