Assault, riots at Malieveld, and a robbery in Team West

Tonight on Team West, we share footage of an assault in Leiden and a robbery on Paets van Troostwijkstraat in The Hague. We also draw attention again to the riots at Malieveld in The Hague.

Assault - Van der Werfstraat - Leiden

On August 5th, a film crew was assaulted on Van der Werfstraat in Leiden. A scooter rider was asked to wait or move due to filming. He left and returned with five others to confront the film crew. A baseball bat was used to strike and a knife was drawn. Three people were injured in total. One suspect has been arrested. The recognizable footage of the other five suspects is shown in Team West.

Riots - Malieveld - The Hague

On September 20th, a large demonstration took place at Malieveld against asylum policy. Shortly after the demonstration began, violence against police occurred at various locations, vandalism was committed, and journalists were harassed. A TGO (large-scale investigation team) was started to investigate the vandalism and violence. In Team West, for the second week in a row, multiple suspects suspected of criminal offenses are shown in hopes they will be recognized.

Robbery - Paets van Troostwijkstraat - The Hague

On Monday, June 16, 2025, around 16:05, a violent robbery took place on Paets van Troostwijkstraat. A minor boy was sitting on a bench when an unknown boy stood next to him. The victim was forced at knifepoint to give up his bag. The suspect also made a stabbing motion towards the victims face. The suspect then fled, presumably towards Allard Piersonlaan. In the Team West broadcast, footage of the suspect is shown.
