On Saturday, August 23, around 9:15 PM, the victim arrives at a playground on Leertouwerstraat in Horst. There, three boys, two of whom are wearing balaclavas, approach him. They push him off his bike and assault him. One of the suspects also films part of the assault. Eventually, the trio flees, and the victim reports to the police. Besides physical injury, this has of course a huge impact on the victim.
The police were able to arrest three minor suspects through investigation. Witness statements from observant local residents and camera footage helped in this. The three boys are suspected of public violence or involvement in it. They are 14, 15, and 16 years old and live in the municipality of Horst aan de Maas. They are all currently free, but remain suspects in the case. At a later time, the public prosecutor will decide on the punishment the boys will receive.
Do not share footage
The police disapproves of sharing footage of public violence or assault. It is unpleasant and painful for victims to be reminded of the incident by seeing circulating footage. If you receive footage, do not forward it but contact the police.
