Patrolling officers encountered a van with its headlights on Monday evening, November 24, at a parking lot on Ligneweg in Halsteren. During an inspection, the vehicle was found to be fully loaded with barrels of drug waste and new chemicals for drug production. A so-called jammer was also found in the vehicle, a device criminals use to disrupt network traffic and remain invisible to law enforcement. The driver, a 55-year-old man from Prinsenbeek, was caught red-handed. Further investigation by the National Dismantling Facility (LFO) confirmed that the drug waste and chemicals were used for the production of Mephedrone, also known as 4-MMC.

On Thursday, November 27, the police were alerted about an abandoned fully loaded van at Zurenhoek in the rural area of Bergen op Zoom. The vehicle blocked the road after getting stuck while turning. The occupants were no longer present. After investigating the cargo, it turned out to be 4000 liters of drug waste. The LFO later discovered it was production waste from methamphetamine. The investigation into the occupants is ongoing, and arrests are not ruled out.
