The detective team has been working for months to map out the criminal network thoroughly. During this investigation, the team came across various information that ultimately led to this suspect. The 27-year-old man from Duiven (previously arrested for involvement in a shooting incident in Pannerden) was arrested because he is seen as the key figure within a criminal network. The criminal organization is involved, among other things, in drug trafficking. Further investigation is being conducted regarding possible involvement in human trafficking. The follow-up investigation will further clarify his possible role in this.

Multiple searches and multiple arrests

In preparation for this arrest, the detective team came across more information indicating that the suspect may not have acted alone. On Tuesday, February 10, searches took place at seven different locations. The searches took place, among others, in Zevenaar, Den Bosch (East Brabant unit), and Nieuwegein (Central Netherlands unit). Three people were arrested during these searches. A 26-year-old man, a 21-year-old man, and a 26-year-old woman were arrested. They have all been subjected to restrictions, meaning they may only have contact with their lawyer.

Suspect plays a crucial role within the criminal network from his cell

Intensive detective work revealed that the 27-year-old man from Duiven continued to carry out activities within this criminal network from his cell. By arresting this important key figure, the detectives hope to close the net. The suspect maintained contact from his cell to keep the criminal network intact. From his cell, the suspect gave orders to the so-called ‘runners’, who maintained contact with the buyers. The investigation into the scope of this criminal network is ongoing and forms an important part of the current criminal investigation. The suspects are currently in custody. Multiple arrests are not excluded.
