Two suspects, a 59-year-old woman from Vlissingen and a 49-year-old man from Vlissingen, were immediately arrested at a residence on Tooroplaan. Shortly after, a third suspect, a 52-year-old man from Vlissingen, was also arrested on suspicion of possible complicity.
The police had earlier received an anonymous tip about a suspected synthetic drug lab in the residence. During the raid, officers found a significant amount of Flakka as well as a large sum of money. All seized items have been confiscated.
The National Facility for Dismantling (LFO) of the police is on site to safely dismantle the lab. The police are conducting further investigations into the scale of production and the involvement of the arrested suspects.
How to recognize a drug lab?
People living near a drug lab often notice strange situations earlier without being able to immediately identify them. A specific chemical smell can indicate the presence of a drug lab. Watch for the following signs:
- Strong chemical odor, such as solvents (e.g., acetone).
- Sealed cracks of unused windows and doors, for example with foam sealant, to prevent odors from escaping.
- Exhaust installations with carbon filters, where the air is often vented through the roof.
- Drug labs are often located near factories or farms that also produce odors (e.g., manure smell), making the chemical smell less noticeable.
If you smell something suspicious or do not trust a situation, report it to the police via 0900-8844 or anonymously via 0800-7000.
