The Traffic Team and officers from the Alkmaar Basic Team conducted checks in the morning at Schagerweg and Huiswaarderweg. 283 drivers were tested on the street, and three tested positive.
Two individuals were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. Blood samples were taken and sent to a laboratory.
One suspect was taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test. The test showed 430 µGL*, nearly double the maximum allowed amount for an experienced driver.
After the tests, the suspects were sent away with a driving ban.
Timing
Sunday morning seems a surprising time for an alcohol check. Many people do not realize that what they consume on Saturday evening remains longer in the body and affects driving ability.
Other violations
- During the check, a ghost vehicle was stopped. Ghost vehicles are vehicles without valid registration at the Netherlands Vehicle Authority. The car was seized. The driver also did not have a valid drivers license.
- Someone was driving 45 kilometers over the speed limit. A report was also filed for this.
