Check in Nieuw-Vennep
The first check took place on Noorderdreef near Havenstraat in Nieuw-Vennep, between 6:15 PM and 9:00 PM.
- 186 drivers were tested for alcohol use. None were found to be under the influence.
- Additionally, 52 drivers were checked for drugs, of which 5 tested positive for the use of narcotics.
Fines were also issued for various traffic violations:
- 2x driving with worn tires
- 1x not wearing a seatbelt
- 1x unable to show drivers license
- 1x running a red light
- 1x riding an electric scooter (not allowed)
Check in Badhoevedorp
Later in the evening, the second check was at the parking lot on Sloterweg in Badhoevedorp. Here, 227 breath tests and 44 drug tests were conducted.
The police identified the following violations:
- 4 drivers under the influence of drugs
- 1 driver under the influence of alcohol (blood sample taken)
- 1 driver was driving with a confiscated license
- 1 person refused a blood test
- 1 arrest due to an outstanding prison sentence of 7 days
- 1 arrest for possession of soft drugs
Additionally, various fines were issued:
- 1x not showing the registration certificate upon first request
- 1x not following instructions from an official
- 1x improper use of throttle handle on fatbike
- 1x not cooperating with preliminary breath test
- 1x not showing drivers license upon first request
- 1x not showing ID upon first request
Importance of Traffic Safety
With these checks, the police aim not only to address offenders but also to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence.
