On Friday morning, the police entered a residence on Rijnlaan following a tip that illegal fireworks might be stored there. The resident fully cooperated and showed the fireworks he had in the shed. These included various types and categories of (heavy) fireworks. The man received a formal report and relinquished the fireworks, which were taken away for destruction. Actions like these are crucial to prevent serious incidents. Storing heavy fireworks in residential areas poses a direct risk of explosions, fire, and injury. Every batch of fireworks we remove from the streets can make the difference between a festive New Years Eve and a tragedy.
