On December 4, the victim received several messages from someone pretending to be her son, asking for large sums of money to pay various bills. The son had several people collect money and her debit card from the victims home on his behalf. The unsuspecting victim initially thought she was helping her child, but after handing over large amounts of money and her debit card to people at the door multiple times, she became suspicious.

A Quick Plan
The victim involved her family, who contacted the police. A quick plan was made, which involved the fraudsters coming back to the victim to collect money again. When one of the fraudsters actually showed up at the victims home on December 7 to collect money again, plainclothes officers were ready. They immediately arrested the perpetrator and an accomplice. The story was not over with these two arrests, as the investigation led to a third suspect who was apprehended on December 9.
All suspects are in custody.
