At around 12:15 PM, the police received a report of a stabbing incident that took place on the Rijksweg in Molenhoek. This occurred near the roadworks. As a result of this work, cyclists are required to use the main roadway. This is indicated by traffic signs.
A cyclist complies with the requirement to use the roadway. This obligation applies for a distance of about 30 meters. After the roadworks, the cyclist returns to riding on the bike path. A motorist who has been driving behind this cyclist passes him. Immediately afterward, he stops his car and gets out. At that moment, the unsuspecting cyclist is stabbed with a sharp object. The motorist then gets back into his car and drives away.
The victim turns out to be injured in his arm but does not need to go to the hospital. The police are investigating and are looking for the suspect.
