Officers were dispatched around 08:00 to Boulevard Bankert because a man was sitting in a car in the pedestrian area. The man was reported to have acted aggressively towards a beachgoer. When an officer approached the car to speak to the man, he sped off. The officer barely managed to jump aside in time. A police unit then initiated a pursuit. The suspect continued to drive at high speed through Vlissingen, creating dangerous situations. He drove through intersections and pedestrian crossings without slowing down and overtook several cars. The driver narrowly avoided hitting a man on a mobility scooter. Meanwhile, multiple police units were called. Near the viaduct on Schroeweg, the road pirate was stopped. The suspect resisted arrest and was taken to a police cell.
