On Saturday evening around 7:30 PM, an explosion occurred at a house on Klimtstraat. This house and a neighboring one were severely damaged. Later that evening, two youths were stopped on Splijtbakweg. One of them was carrying a weapon and was arrested for it. In the investigation into the explosion, camera footage was reviewed, and based on the description, the two came forward as suspects. On Tuesday, December 16, the second boy was arrested. Both are suspected of involvement in the explosion and are in custody.

Mayor Van der Loo shortly after the incident visited residents of Klimtstraat. “It is good news that the investigation by the police and Public Prosecution Service has led to the arrest of two suspects. With the closure of the house and the installed camera surveillance, I ensure that peace returns and public order is restored. Above all, everyone in this neighborhood must feel safe,” said Van der Loo.
