Safety Risk Area Heemskerk and Beverwijk
In the safety risk area in the municipalities of Beverwijk and Heemskerk, multiple people were searched and several vehicles were checked on Saturday evening, September 13. Additionally, two altercations occurred in the center of Beverwijk on Saturday evening. A number of young women from Haarlem confronted another group of young women from Beverwijk. Based on the emergency order, those involved in the altercations were sent out of the area, after which calm quickly returned.
Despite the polices call not to come and see if there is some excitement, it was noticeably busier on Saturday evening in the IJmond areas. Therefore, we once again make the urgent appeal for you not to get involved in the unrest, both online and on the street.
Two Arrests for Weapons and Ammunition Act
In Beverwijk, during one of the preventive checks, a person was arrested for violating the Weapons and Ammunition Act. This involves a 19-year-old boy from Beverwijk. During a regular check of youth in Haarlem, a minor boy from Haarlem was also arrested for violating the Weapons and Ammunition Act. The two suspects will be heard today.

What Can You Do?
- We ask parents to talk to their son or daughter about what they do or experience on the street as well as online. We also ask young people not to gather in groups and not to get involved (online) with one of the rival groups.
- Call 112 in emergencies. If in doubt, it is better to call once too often than too little.
- If you have information or footage that can help, but there is no acute situation? Then contact the police or via Meld Misdaad Anoniem. Your information is important to help end this unrest together.
- Do not spread the videos yourself. Intentionally spreading false information that can lead to unrest is punishable.
