The police received a request from the animal inspection service on August 27, 2025, at 15:20, to assist during an inspection. The inspectors were at a site where neglected animals were roaming. The animal owner had reportedly been aggressive towards the inspectors during previous visits.
Hungry and infested with fleas
At the location, officers and inspectors found several animals in poor condition. The dogs were infested with fleas, the animals were underweight, received insufficient food and water, and were visibly in poor health. A dead rat was even found in a water bowl. Additionally, the field was littered with debris such as steel pipes, fencing, and barbed wire, which could injure the animals.
After assessment by a veterinarian and the public prosecutor, it was decided to seize the animals: nine pigs, two mini-pigs, one llama, three donkeys, seven horses, and as many as eighteen dogs, immediately. All animals were transferred to a safe shelter the same day and will receive the care they need.
The police are compiling a file, and the suspect will be questioned.
