Before that time, various agencies were approached and other means were considered, such as sedation, tasers, or capturing the dog. None of these options, however, would provide a suitable solution. Given the seriousness of the situation and the risk to the safety of bystanders and police officers, it was ultimately decided in consultation with the Public Prosecutor that there was no other option but to shoot the animal.

In the victims home, two other dogs were present. They were in a crate and did not pose a direct danger at that moment.
