The police initiated the pursuit after giving a stop signal to two scooter riders. The passenger was not wearing a helmet. When the driver ignored the stop signal, the police followed the scooter. It was close to hitting a man on a mobility scooter who was nearly struck by the speeding scooter.
The driver lost control of the scooter on Spoorlaan and crashed into a pole. The two fell off, and the scooter collided with a stationary police car, causing a crack in the windshield. The police vehicle following them had to brake suddenly, which caused the scooter to become wedged between the two vehicles, allowing the driver to be arrested. Both occupants of the scooter fell but were not injured.
Drug Discovery
During the check, the police found drugs. The driver, a 23-year-old man from Eindhoven, was arrested immediately. The passenger received a fine for not wearing a helmet.
Always Stop!
The police emphasize that ignoring stop signals and riding without a helmet pose serious risks for both the driver and other road users.
