It is just before half past six when multiple calls come in to the control room from people in Westerpark, Nassauplein, and Zaanstraat. Witnesses hear multiple shots and see a man with a firearm running towards Spaarndammerstraat.

Responding officers immediately begin a large search for the suspect. The description of the suspect: a man with a light skin tone. He is wearing black long training pants, a white shirt, and possibly a black cap.

Part of the park is cordoned off. Forensic Investigation is looking for evidence. A total of five shell casings are found on the street.
