The police have experienced that young people often shine a laser pointer at a helicopter, not realizing that it can lead to very dangerous situations. Shining a laser beam at a helicopter or airplane is a criminal offense. The National Expertise and Operations Unit has investigated the case and drawn up a report. The Aviation Expertise Center of the Public Prosecution Service will assess the file and make a disposal decision.

It was clear where the laser was coming from, so the helicopter was able to determine the location of the individual, and colleagues on the ground from the The Hague Unit were able to apprehend the 18-year-old man from The Hague.
