During a bicycle light check near the Aambeeld in Medemblik, officers stopped a man around midnight for riding without lights. During the stop, the suspect rode away on the roadway. One of the officers then followed the cyclist in a car and stopped him again. The officer wanted to talk to the man, but he became verbally and physically aggressive. The man assaulted the officer. The suspect was brought under control by the officer using a taser.
Arrest
The man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a public official in the performance of their duties and resisting arrest. A breath test showed that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol. The suspect is still in custody.
