The man attracted the attention of police officers around 7:40 PM because he was driving far too fast through the center of Oudenbosch. When the officers wanted to check him and signaled him to stop, he sped away at high speed. In some places, he was driving at least 100 km/h, while the maximum speed limit was 50 km/h. Eventually, he drove into a dead-end section of Groene Woud and got out of the car, throwing something away in the process. After the officers handcuffed the man, they went to see what it was. It turned out to be a bag containing what was presumably hard drugs. Because they suspected the man had more drugs with him, they searched the car he had been driving. In the car, they found bags containing what was presumably cannabis, bags containing what was presumably cocaine, and several hundred euros in cash. When they searched the suspect, he also had two grip bags with presumably hard drugs on him.
More on his record
The suspect could not identify himself and was also no longer in possession of a valid drivers license, as it had already been revoked earlier. The saliva test that the officers took from him indicated that he was presumably under the influence of drugs. The man refused to cooperate with a blood test, which could show whether and how much drugs and/or medication the man had used. He spent the night in jail and was interrogated on Monday. A report was drawn up against the suspect for violating the Opium Act (possession of hard and soft drugs) and the Traffic Act (e.g., for driving under the influence, driving with a revoked license, and dangerous driving). He will also receive fines for ignoring a stop signal, driving against the direction, and failing to indicate.
