The girl left home around 1:00 PM on Saturday afternoon. As far as is known, she was going to her parents store but never arrived there. After she was reported missing to the police at the end of the day, officers went out en masse to search for her. The search continued throughout the night with officers and detectives staying on duty longer, assisted by the fire department. Possible locations were searched, police dogs, drones, and camera surveillance were deployed. Her photo was also shared via social media with a call to look out for her.

Amber Alert
When she was still missing during the night despite the extensive search, it was decided to issue an Amber Alert, also considering the extreme weather conditions and the lack of any trace.

In the morning, the police were called by a woman who had seen the girl in a home in Rotterdam-South. The girl was checked as a precaution by an ambulance. When it turned out she was in good health, she was taken to the police station where her parents were also present.

Arrest
The man who provided her shelter was arrested for removing a child from parental authority. An adult may not take a child into their home without parental permission. It is currently assumed there are no indications of other crimes. The police are in talks with all involved and conducting further investigation.

The police thank everyone for their help and vigilance regarding Wendy. If you shared her photo, please remove it now that she has been found.
