In Hilversum, significant construction has taken place in recent years for the new control room in the new building on Groest. The control rooms in Lelystad and Utrecht were outdated. This new building provides the control room with a spacious, pleasant working environment that is also technically prepared for the future. The new control room houses operators from the police, fire department, ambulance services (RAV), and emergency coordinators (Cacos) from the safety regions. This collaboration under one roof ensures faster coordination and better assistance in crisis situations.
The location in Hilversum is the last of ten control rooms in the Netherlands that is connected to the National Control Room Network. This network connects all control rooms, allowing calls to be automatically transferred to other locations during high demand or incidents. This guarantees that assistance via 112 remains available – wherever and whenever it is needed. With the commissioning of the control room in Hilversum, Midden-Nederland is assured of a future-proof, efficient, and well-accessible emergency response structure.
The old control rooms in Lelystad and Utrecht are no longer operational. Residents of Flevoland, Utrecht, and the Gooi and Vechtstreek who call 112 will now be assisted by staff from the new control room Midden-Nederland in Hilversum. This also means that all emergency services will now be directed and coordinated from Hilversum during incidents.
