The kidnapping occurred in the early morning of November 5, 2024. The victim was grabbed in a parking garage of an apartment complex and pulled into a vehicle. He was also threatened with a firearm. Additionally, his phone was taken, and money was transferred for cryptocurrency. The man was then driven around in the car for more than two hours until he was left by the roadside in a ditch near Uppel around 8:00 AM.
Camera footage and arrests
After sharing camera footage of the suspects, two men (aged 18 and 19) from Almere were arrested on November 10, 2025. A day later, on November 11, 2025, three more men were arrested: a 21-year-old from Almere in Schiedam and two men (aged 19 and 21) at their homes in Almere.
