Investigation

The basis for the dismissal is a disciplinary investigation conducted by the department of Safety, Integrity, and Complaints at the request of the unit management. The secondary activities performed were in violation of the granted permission, and additionally, the employee carried out these activities partially during working hours.

Stijn van Griensven, head of operations: “As a police colleague, you have a role model function. This means that you behave socially responsibly and morally impeccably. These behaviors do not fit with the integrity organization we want to be. Therefore, we carefully investigate reports of misconduct and punish where necessary.”

Secondary Activities

Secondary activities are all activities that our colleagues perform alongside their work as (volunteer) police officers. The police are positive about employees who perform secondary activities alongside their police function. The interaction between market, society, and government offers many opportunities and advantages. Usually, these secondary activities will not pose problems for work at the police. In some cases, however, the secondary activities may conflict with police work. In that situation, secondary activities are not allowed or only permitted under conditions.
