The investigation is a collaboration between the Cybercrime Team of the police unit in The Hague, The Centre for Combating Cybercrime of the national police in Moldova, the Cyber Department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and the Public Prosecution Service in the Netherlands, Moldova, and Ukraine.

Arrest in Investigation into Ransomware

On Tuesday, May 6, a suspect was arrested in Moldova as part of a Dutch investigation. The man is suspected of being involved in ransomware attacks in 2021, which affected several organizations in the Netherlands. During the arrest, a search was also conducted at his home, where data carriers and a large sum of money were seized. The suspect has been arrested to be extradited to the Netherlands.
