Featured Current Events: Theft with Violence and Unrest at Malieveld
This week we start a new section in Team West: the featured current events. We draw attention to recent cases such as incidents that occurred during the weekend before the broadcast or recent events we want to highlight. This week we focus on a violent theft on Laan van Leidschenveen (Sunday, September 28) and the unrest at Malieveld (September 20).
Bank Helpdesk Fraud – Jonckbloetplein – The Hague
A 79-year-old man from The Hague became a victim of bank helpdesk fraud on Thursday, May 15, 2025. The victim was first called by a woman pretending to be a bank employee. He was then called by someone claiming to work at the fraud helpdesk. The victim received various instructions, and while he still had one of the scammers on the phone, a man came to his home to collect his money and bank card. The card was then used to withdraw money from the victims account. The scammer withdrew money near Jonckbloetplein, and we hope someone recognizes him.
Explosion - Meerkoetstraat - The Hague
On June 27, around 03:20 AM, an explosion occurred at a residence on Meerkoetstraat in The Hague, and it is suspected to be a mistake. After the explosion, a boy ran away, and we have footage of this. We hope someone recognizes him by his clothing or gait.
